On Sunday 2nd of October, the first explorer apprentices came together in The Pavilion Dive Centre to get started with their training.
Despite a smaller group than planned, we all had a lot of fun, and got excited as the tension was building on through the discussions and the briefings.
Dale Will and I were guiding these news adventurers through their first fin kicks and that reminded me of why I love teaching the new generation. They are so enthusiastic about learning…

Blue seas, Clear sky, No swimmers???
Clear blue sea's, Warm summer day.......... sounds nice doesn’t it? Well this was clearly not the case for beach goers on the 19’Th of April in Fujairah.
On Tuesday 19th, Beach goers were disappointed to find that the beach at Al aqua beach was closed due to tar. The oil tankers normally have to pay to get their tanks cleaned out at port so some of them will illegally dump the…

After spending a week with Pavilion Dive Centre, i have become an Advanced Open Water Diver.
This for me was a seriously moving experience, because it was my second time in Musandam with Ernst and his team. After about 45 minutes on the beach cleaning up, i can safely say we picked up more than one hundred plastic bottles.
We also unfortunately found a dead sea turtle. It was clearly not a natural death for the turtle, and after finding all those bottles its clear why.
I…

I was with "Extra Divers" this past long weekend. I went for a morning dive, and got to go into a cave, near Musandam
Was lucky to see two eagle rays. Unfortunately no sharks :( Hopefully during this week when i go and try to get my advanced open water, i will be lucky to see a few. During April or May I'm going to see some sharks. Last year i got to touch my first black tip at around the same time in the year. Jellyfish were very beautiful in oman, not too many stings. They…

Sharks are dated back to a time when even dinosaurs weren’t present and these historic gifts of nature are what we humans are afraid of. For you, a shark would probably mean Danger, Death, Devastation, and we would probably consider these creatures to be barbaric. Humans are generally…

What would you think if someone mentioned diving when you were a child and told you about all the wonders of the deep!? Would you want to go diving, or would you just think it is not you're thing. For me, I jumped at the chance and I'm lucky I did because I would not be where I am in diving now! Going to the dive centre every weekend, meeting new people and the best bit BECOMING MORE INSPIRED EVERY TIME!
Diving is probably one of the best hobbies in the world, YES it may be expensive…

On Tuesday 21st September 2010 I took the opportunity to experience the thrill of scuba diving at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel Pavilion Dive Centre.
One week before arriving in Dubai, I was looking for exciting leisure activities. This is not as easy as it sounds for a person born with Muscular Dystrophy and who is entirely dependent on an electric wheelchair. Most tourist activities claim they are…

Finally Sammy the whale shark that was kept at Atlantis hotel has been tracked thanks to her satellite tag. she was released in March 2010. The tag came off early after just 33 days but scientist in US had been able to map the info from her tag. She dipped and dived to 72m deep and came up to the surface at least once a day.
