red toothed trigger fish are very common species spotted in the musandam and are seen in there mass, this one of 40 species of which are very similar throughout the world and only generally differ in colour ,but all tend to live in coral reef areas due to there dietery requirements.they are generally non agressive but have been known to bite whilst protecting there eggs , they get the name from the dorsal spine that locks in place when they feel threathened by a predator and run into a hole in the coral or rocks and wedge in for safety.
shape :oval with a compressed body,three spine dorsal fins,large head with small mouth but strong jaw and teeth for crushing shells
clour:blue
size:20 to 50cm
diet:crustceans,mollusks,sea urchins and other shell fish.
