Scuba diving has shown numerous advantages as a social and physical rehabilitation of disabled individuals, allowing them to interact in a near weightless state, with many feeling that the normal obstacles and restrictions their disability gives them on land, disappears in water when given the right equipment and training.
It is common knowledge that participating in regular recreational activities, which involves physical exercise, is rewarded with better health, both physically and mentally. Scuba diving is also a social sport, and as such can have a tremendous positive effect on disabled divers and their ability to interact with non-disabled divers alike.
Currently there are no Disabled Diver Facilities or training available to the community in the entire region. Collaboration with Tawasul and DDI has allowed us to offer dive training to the disabled community as an effort:
· Social Inclusion: Our aim is that the disabled community are integrated in society by offering training to volunteers to make diving training available to the disabled community.
· Social Empowerment: Through capacity building develop life skills and create awareness within the community by integrating volunteers in a program that offers dive training to the disabled community that will contribute to their mental and physical health. This will create Social bonds and active contribution to society
